Argh - LOTR at the top! I couldn't get through 5 chapters of that without giving up...and I tried and tried and tried. I've read quite a few of those lately - maybe around 30-40 - the best of which for me was undoubtedly Heller's Catch 22, which I loved and immediately read a second time!
