All heaven with its power
and the sun with its brightness,
and the snow with its whiteness,
and the fire with all the strength it hath-
and lightning with its rapid wrath
and the winds with their swiftness along their path.
and the sea with its deepness,
and the rocks with their steepness
and the earth with its starkness-
all these I place by God almighty help and grace
between myself and the powers of darkness!

This prayer is from Madeline L'Engle's book A Swiftly Tilting Planet, I have learned other versions of this prayer over the years but this is still my favorite and a prayer I pray daily! You can see some other versions of it here. Today post election in the U.S. I can only offer a prayer.
