The Resurrection of the Lord
The three days of darkness are over. The light has returned to the world. As we proclaim in the response "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad." We celebrate much this day. For in dying for us Jesus destroyed death, and in raising again he gives us new life. It was not what anyone expected when he said he would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days.

There are many places we can pout ourselves in the readings from today's mass. From peter in Acts recounting the story of their time with Jesus and the command they received to go and preach. To trusting in the promises from the Responsorial Psalm:
O Give Thanks to the Lord for he is good;his steadfast love endures forever.Let Israel say' 'His steadfast love endures forever.'
The Right hand of the Lord is exalted;The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.I shall not die, but I shall live,and recount the deeds of the Lord.
The stone the builders rejectedhas become the chief cornerstone.This is the Lord's doing;it is marvelous in our eyes.Would we have run to the tomb? Like the other disciple would we have stopped at the entrance? Or like Peter would we have rushed in? Would we have recognized Jesus? After he spoke our name? And the same questions arise from the afternoon reading? Walking on the road to Emmaus, would we have recognized Jesus as he opened the scriptures up? When he broke the bread?
Easter is a time of great rejoicing. But will it have a lasting impact on my life? On yours? People often say that 'the spirit of Christmas should be lived throughout the year' but really it is Easter we should live throughout the year. We should keep the joy in our heart. The celebration in our spirit, and the rejoicing for what God has done. Remember Easter when you have conflict at work on Monday. When you arrive home to a sink full of dirty dishes Tuesday. On Wednesday when you wake up with shoulder pain. Or Thursday when you forget your lunch on the counter. In all things remember the sacrifice and give thanks, turning those life circumstances over to God. Blessings on you this Easter Sunday and throughout the year.
