That book is a family favorite. I read it about 5 years ago with my oldest. Two years ago, with my son, and now again with my youngest. My children know that I review books and sometimes they are insistent I review a book we read together. This is one of those times. My son has just given his younger sister his copies of the four Frog and Toad books. Book hand me downs are the best type!

Both my younger children have provided feedback for this review.

     1. My son who is almost eleven stated that Frog and Toad are excellent books for developing reading. He recalls my reading them to him. Him and I alternating pages, and then finally him reading the books to me.

     2. My youngest daughter who just turned 8, loved this first Frog and Toad book. She was able to read most of the book with just some help on a few of the harder words. She loved the characters of Frog and Toad and looks forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

The Frog and Toad books are great fun to read. I have likely read this book at least 20 times over the last 5 years, and had it read to me a dozen more. It is a book that holds up. There are some children’s books that I dread, that there is an inward cringe and outward shiver when they are pulled from the shelf. This book and this series do not fall in that category.

My children love the story and the characters. It is hard not to like Frog and Toad. A few years ago I went through a phase of reading Frog and Toad, Little Bear and Amelia Bedelia books with my son. Now the circle has turned an it is time to reread them again with my youngest daughter. And they are great books to read together. We give this book a very solid family seal of approval.
