This is not the first story I have read about Clare of Assisi. But it is a read for a younger audience. Maybe the youngest I have encountered to date. Many of the events depicted in this story are ones older readers will be familiar with. But it is still a fun book to read to and with children.
The story is written in an engaging and entraining manner. The illustrations are done in a pencil crayon style. The colors are bright and vibrant. And the full page illustrations on every page provide a lot of details to examine again and again. It is an entertaining read. And can be read again and again, at the writing of this review I have read it almost a dozen times, by myself or with one or more of my children. The children especially love when she cut off her hair, to using the host to repel invaders.
It is a great Catholic picture book, fun for the whole family.
