Over the last several years, I have read over 175 volumes from the CTS. I have read books from many series. And many authors. I have read several books that are part of the CTS Devotions and Prayer Series. I have read many in the CTS Biographies and also Saints of the Isles Series, and the Great Saints Series. This however is the first by Father John Flader that I have read. The description of the booklet is:

“The Rosary remains one of the most popular and enduring Marian devotions, especially since the addition of the Luminous Mysteries by Pope John Paul II. This booklet traces the origins of the Rosary prayer, explains the meaning, value and different ways of praying it, answers objections to it, and finally provides simple themes for meditation.”

And the chapters on facing pages in Latin on the left and English on the right are:

Conclusion

This booklet was originally published in 2010 by The Catholic Truth society, it Had previously been published in Australia in 2008. And the eBook edition was released in 2017. I have read several books about the Rosary. And to be honest have been blessed by each of them. In the introduction to this booklet we are told:

“The purpose of this little booklet is to shed light on these and other questions in order to facilitate a greater understanding and appreciation of the Rosary and with it, God willing, a greater frequency and fruitfulness in its recitation.”

The book provides a brief history of the Rosary. Then a section on the popes and the Rosary. Both about their personal devotion and their writings about the rosary. This book will serve as a great refresher for those who want to go deeper with the Rosary again. It will also be excellent for those just beginning to make it a regular part of their spiritual exercises. I can easily be read in an afternoon over a big mug of tea. And it can be returned to again and again as needed. An excellent little book that I highly recommend.
