Prayer of the Day A Hunter's Prayer

Prayer of the Day A Hunter's Prayer

Prayer of the Day A Hunter's Prayer

O Lord, you know of what we are made, dust and clay.
Our days are like grass, we bloom like a flower in the meadow;
the wind blows and we are gone. If you take our breath, we return to earth,
and our plans this day come to nothing.

You know my resting and my rising,
marking when I work or lie down,
all my ways are naked before you.
If I assume feathers at dawn and soar to the heavens,
you are there. If I lie in the grave, you are there.
Your right hand grips me forever.

From T. rex’ jaws
From raptor’s claws,
From life indoors,
From all our flaws,
Deliver us, Lord.
And smile upon us,
Mother mild.

Jesus I Trust in You!

Part of the Chaplet of Saint Desmond the Hermit from Corinna Turner's unSPARKed books. This prayer is from a fiction novel, by one of my favourite contemporary Catholic authors. We do not have the full story of Saint Desmond, we meet him in a prequel story, Liam and the Hunters of Lee'Vibut he is referenced often especially how hunters and framers have a devotion to him. This partial chaplet struck me and I have prayed it daily, switching from the fiction Saint Desmond to Saint Benedict!
