The Eternity Symbiote - Cedar Sanderson

This is the eighteenth volume by Sanderson that I have read. I first encountered the works of Cedar in Cracked: An Anthology of Eggsellent Chicken Stories, and after reading her piece there knew I had to track down and read something else from her pen. I had picked this one while researching for a different review. It is one of many in her back catalogue that I have read. I was intrigued as soon as I saw the cover. The day I picked this up I grabbed two other older volumes from Sanderson. It is great and well worth the read.

The description of this volume states:

“Unknown to humanity, a galactic power struggle surges over the Earth. When an alien delegation suffers a fatal accident, hidden plans unravel around the wreckage in the Alaskan wilderness. Infectious disease expert Gabrielle McGregor discovers the hidden infiltrations, and neither her life, nor her family’s, will ever be the same.”

Gabrielle McGregor, is living in the wilderness and flying as a bush pilot. Her current job does not make a lot of sense, Dropping off two government types at a remote lake and they will be picked up in a few days once they call in. But before she takes off, they get her attention and say the person they were there to wait for has arrived and they are ready to go back. Unfortunately they experience a bird strike and everything is about to change.

This story is written in a classic science fiction style. It was so hard to put down. Humans have made first contact, a gift from the Orion’ess is released during an accident and soon it appears Earth will never be the same again. We join bush pilot and scientist Gabrielle McGregor, her estranged husband Lieutenant Colonel Jedediah McGregor, a scientist named Paul Monroe. As they face exposure to the alien crystals.

Unfortunately the G'his have plans for Earth and humans. But to find out you will need to read this story. The plot is fast and intense. The characters masterfully written. And to be honest it leaves you wanting more! Another excellent read from Sanderson’s pen.
